Nick sat down with us and gave us a great interview on what it's like to be Student Body President of such a large high school. Read his answers and watch his video both - they are a wealth of information. Thanks Nick!

How much responsibilities do you have/what are they?
I hold a multitude of responsibilities at William Tennent, which range from attending board meetings, sitting in on our Citizens’ Policy Committee, discussing student issues with our Principal, and, most importantly, helping spread school spirit!
How much are you at school?
All the time, I stay after most days an hour after everyone has left. I’m at school pretty much all the time, even on weekends when need be!
What are your goals?
Some of my goals from the beginning of this school year included getting our school Wi-Fi, having more leniency towards taking Finals as an AP Student, and establishing a class trip.
What's most rewarding?
Being able to speak openly with lots of different people in the school! I feel like it’s easy for kids from every grade level to speak with me, as well as administrators and other school staff!
What's your favorite part?
Believe it or not, going to board meetings and speaking with administrators. It makes me feel great having the ability to “pick the brains” of people who help run our school and our district. Also, admittedly, I love the title of “President”, I mean, who wouldn’t??
What did you have to do to win?
LOTS of campaigning. I campaigned for a couple of months by word of mouth, then about a month before voting I recorded a speech and starting hanging up campaign posters.
How did you decide you wanted to do this?
I love being involved, and I felt like this would be the best way for me to help others in the school with their problems. Also, I love leading groups of people!
Do you plan on a career in politics?
My intended major in political science and a career in politics would be something that I’d love to do! Nonetheless, I don’t necessarily plan on having a career in politics, and whatever career I end up having, I am sure I’ll have fun and make the most of it!
What advice would you give to future presidential candidate?
Be yourself! Ever since my freshman year the Student Body President has done it their own way, which means that it’s okay to be different! Additionally, be confident in what you say, and say what you believe!
Who do you think will win the US presidency?
Bold Prediction: I think the race will be between Ted Cruz and Bernie Sanders, and Bernie will take it all! Hopefully my favorite candidate, Marco Rubio, gets a GOP nomination, though.
