The big society of high school is being cracked right here for you all to read so you know the proper do’s and don’ts to succeeding. Steps to getting in:
11 out 15 points
Points are determined through your scholarship, leadership, service, and character
Your GPA (**To even be invited to apply you need a GPA of 3.5!**)
3.450 – 3.850 = 3 points
3.851 – 4.099 = 4 points
4.100 – 4.500 = 5 points
Pertains to the clubs/extracurriculars (including sports, etc.) that you are involved in
My advice: Get involved with clubs that peak your interest, and do a few good things for your community once in a while!
The community service that you do for your community outside of a school setting, without being compensated for it.
My advice: Similar to above, go out and find that one organization that you really find meaningful, and get heavily involved in it. Not only does this help with this portion of the application, but you will also end up loving the impact you’re able to make.
Just don’t cheat, or violate any of the schools codes of conduct, or get arrested.
The Induction: The Induction is held on a school night, where you get to get dressed up, and are given a little candle, along with the NHS emblem; you then walk across the stage of the auditorium hoping you don’t trip, or fall. When you find yourself standing up there staring into the crowd, the lighting of the candles begins, and you hope you’re not that one kid that burns the building down. Don’t worry, just relax and enjoy your accomplishment!
What you do after you’re in: One of the best ways to get hours for this club is to go to Neshaminy Manor on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays. I usually go on my Mondays and play bingo with them all; it’s normally only runs from 7-8, but you get two hours for it! There are tons and tons of other opportunities, though, to reach your hour requirement for the year; also you have a 4 event minimum requirement. These requirements will either allow for you to stay in for the next year or not.
